POLICE OFFICERS, FIREFIGHTERS AND SERVICEMEMBERS COME TOGETHER FOR GAY CHARITY IN LAS VEGAS

(09-18-09 Las Vegas, NV) -- On Saturday October 3, 2009 at 8:00 PM, Protect and Defend will host, "Americas Heroes -Fire, Police & military personnel charity auction" for the GLBT Community. The show is being hosted at Cathouse located at the Luxor Hotel & Casino, 3900 Las Vegas Blvd, in Las Vegas.

Over 70 Members of the Fire, Police and Military community, from as far as New York to San Diego, will come out to support the gay and lesbian community of Las Vegas. Tickets are $20.00. Members of police, fire and military agencies with ID can purchase tickets for $5.00. All proceeds to benefit the non-profit charities "The Q Vegas Foundation" and "Protect and Defend". The show is being MC'd by Las Vegas' very own news anchor Chris Saldana.

Along with various guest appearances from entertainers and members, the highlight of the event will be a "bachelor/bachelorette auction of Fire, Police & Military personnel. The audience will get to bid on the opportunity to have a date with various members of the Fire, Police & Military community, including a dinner and tickets to a Las Vegas production show. (For the security and privacy of all involved, cameras will not be allowed into the show.)

Protect and Defend is a nonprofit support organization for gay and lesbian peace officers, firefighters, EMS workers and service members. Chartered in 2006, the group hosts fundraisers for charities throughout California and Nevada that cater towards the gay and lesbian community. Protect and Defend has an interactive website for its membership and the general public, has a peer support group and offers many benefits to its membership such as a death benefit for partners and much more. Protect and Defend has members in 18 states throughout the country, partnering with gay and lesbian police and fire associations throughout the United States. They also host the Party in the Desert, an international party of public safety, military members from throughout the world.

Throughout the weekend members from Protect and Defend will be wearing social passes and organization t shirts that have their name and the state in which they traveled from. Protect and Defend will also be hosting a pool party which is open to the public at the Luxor on Saturday Afternoon, cops, firefighters and military personnel will be handing out literature and promotional items from 12:00PM-4:00PM, everyone is invited to attend this wild pool party, tickets for this venue are ( $10 for locals and Luxor hotel guests and $20 for all others ).
