"Loss of body fat (lipoatrophy) is a common occurrence in long term HIV patients and can lead to significant sitting pain and discomfort. The overall incidence of this sitting pain problem is generally under reported to physicians as patients focus on critical viral load, T cell count and other side effect issues during office visits. This preliminary data should be brought to the treating physician's attention as sitting pain often results in the withdrawal from activities which contribute to the quality of life.
